ANNOUNCEMENT BY HIGHWAYS AGENCY 16/06/06 to LEICESTER
FOREST EAST PARISH COUNCIL.
Following the additional consultation meeting carried out
at Leicester Forest East on the 22nd May 2006 the Highways
Agency has received a considerable amount of correspondence
on the matter of the M1/M69 links.
The Highways Agency will consider all of the comments received
and amend its proposals where appropriate. A preferred route
decision will not be taken on the junction 21 to 21a section
until this work has been completed and the amended proposals
subjected to a further consultation. We expect to be in a
position to re-consult on options in the autumn of 2006.
As a result of the need to re-consult it has been decided
to separate the process for announcing the preferred route.
For the section junction 21a to junction 30 the closing date
for comments will remain as the current extended date of 12th
July 2006. For the remainder of the scheme (junction 21 to
junction 21a) the closing date for comments will be set as
13 weeks after the re-consultation date.
The decision to split the preferred route announcement has
been taken to remove as soon as possible any uncertainty about
our proposed route for the majority of the scheme length.
We expect to be in a position to announce the preferred route
for the section junction 21a to junction 30 in the Spring
of 2007. The preferred route for the remaining part (junction
21 to junction 21a) will be announced later once we are satisfied
that the route chosen best satisfies all of the issues raised.
