Newsletter No.1 - "Get behind the Club" (14th August 2006)
First of all this is a very momentous occasion with it being the very first Leicester Forest RFC e-Newsletter!! I am hoping that we can carry this all through the season and therefore I would like to extend on this current mailing list, Players, Mini & Junior Coaches and any Social members should all now have email addresses and therefore should be able to receive this email. I will be putting a couple of posters up at the club to let everyone know about the regular Newsletter and then hopefully we can build a decent database for exchanging information.

The main reason for running this newsletter aside to the website is so that we can share information such as, match reports, events on at the club, news relating to the club and this hopefully should filter right down to the mini and junior section!! Anyone with anything to add to the newsletter, please email me, even an Under 10’s match report is valid news and will sure to be included in the Newsletter which I hope to send out to you all on a Monday Morning.

The club this season should be an interesting place to be, we have a new senior coach to work side by side with Hemi, Paul Stone, who has heavily been involved in local rugby with Leicester Tigers and Nottingham right through to the Oadby Wyggs and his knowledge of forwards play and coaching tactics is already showing in the very enjoyable coaching sessions we have so far experienced, as with anything however, the sessions are only as good as the numbers who attend so if you know anyone who has not attended yet but should be then give them a polite reminder that training is 7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays with the Bar open to all afterwards!!!!

As with any Club we are looking for new players, with the 1st XV attempting to gain promotion this season and the 2nd XV now playing in the top Leicestershire League (after a fantastic league 2 winning season previously) we need to attract players of ALL abilities, seriously if you know of anyone interested in playing or playing elsewhere at a high standard, then have a word with them or contact myself, Rob Price or Hemi, with their contact details and we will make the approach.

Talking of 2nd Teams, Stu Clarke is the new captain and he will need as much support from everyone at the club, it is vitally important to the club that we maintain our 2nd team status in the highest division and this is not something that will easily happen!

Overseas players – We have still got Ace and Trip for this coming season and they will be a key part of the success of the 1st XV, we are also looking to bring over a couple of other players, two Argentinians, to add a little Latin spice to the club, are looking the best option at the minute and we are also looking to bring one or two more to support the senior section (such is our shortage of 2nd rows!!) and to enable us to do this, we are asking for ALL of your support in the way of Jobs and Accommodation and vehicles (whatever the condition!!) if anyone can help again please let me know? In addition if you have any overseas contacts or suggestions again we are more than interested to hear them.

This coming week sees the Chinese national side visit Leicester Forest and on Friday evening we will be having a run out against them up at the club!! This should be interesting, firstly because we haven’t got a clue what they will be like, but also because it gives us an opportunity to entertain a National side! Also in the clubhouse afterwards!!

Coming up in the next Newsletter, I hope to be able to report on the Chinese visit, look at adding to the sponsor/advertising boardings around the pitch, share details about the clubs proposed tour to Cork and include any of your news which you feel maybe relevant.

Finally, if anyone has any ideas for pieces to add to this newsletter, ideas for the club to consider or to add to our website which is waiting for your input!! Then please let me know and we will make sure it receives the correct attention. Lets make this season an exciting, interesting and supportive one (both on and off the field) at The Forest and I look forward to sharing a pint and your comments soon! AND REMEMBER WE NEED MORE PEOPLES EMAIL ADDRESSES!!!
