Well
it has been a week since the first newsletter and as promised here
is the 2nd, This week weve trained, played an international
match and experienced a 10s tournament at Coalville!! Not
too mention the fact we now have a POOL table at the Rugby club
and Deano is running a pool competition so get your name down if
you fancy your chances of being the next Leicester Forest Pool King!!
The
Chinese visit was a good occasion, we trained with them in the form
of a sevens match, whereby it quickly became apparent that they
were bloody good!! Well fit and fast!! We later found out that they
have three players who run the 100m in under 10.6 seconds!!! (We
had our own international winger, Harold, from Barbados, who told
us his Personal best for the 100m was just under 14 seconds!!!!)
anyway, we then treated the Chinese visitors to our favourite club
gourmet dish of
. Sausages!!! The highlight of the evening
was seeing Tom Vesty trying to explain the rules of Pool to two
Chinese players who clearly couldnt speak a word of English!!!
The
Seniors all embarked on a trip to the annual Coalville 10s
tournament and armed with two sides hoping for some match fitness
and to do well at this tournament, first up for the A side was Coalville,
and after the first two minutes it became apparent the team needed
to adapt to 10s a little quicker, already 4 tries down!!!
We did fight back though at the end of the first half and in the
2nd half we pulled right back to 4 tries all before a lucky bounce
gave Coalville the win in the first game 5 tries to 4!!
The
second game was much better however and the lads duly beat a strong
Hinckley side 2 tries to 1. The next two games were good wins over
Sheffield B team and Anstey, but we came unstuck against a stubborn
Syston side losing 3 tries to 0 and finishing the game with a whole
host of injuries!! The Ambulance spent more time on the pitch than
the players themselves and we hope that all the injured players,
Kirky, Jaime Coulthurst and Richard Fox get back out onto the pitch
soon!!!
The
A teams reward for losing to Syston was 3rd place and a semi
final game against Belgrave (who the B team had already beaten)
unfortunately, we were dogged with Injuries and went out of the
competition losing to Belgrave!!
The
B team were faced with some stiff challenges from a strong Sheffield
side, Old Newts and Hinckley, all of which saw our boys just beaten.
They did manage two high points in beating Belgrave and Shepshed.
The sight of Shaun B controlling the backs was very encouraging,
as were the performances of several of the squads younger players!
Harold the international led the try scoring charts with two.
This
week will see the club continuing with its efforts to bring in some
additional players and prepare for the start of the season and Melton
in the warm up game with training on Tuesday and Thursday evening.
Again,
as always we are looking for more email addresses so forward them
on along with any club notices or information you wish to have included
in the next Newsletter.
