Newsletter No.3 (29th August 2006)

Well a week closer to the start of the season and I am pleased to report that we are adding extra names to the Newsletter list every day, Welcome Tim Watkins and Dave Clarke….as I keep mentioning, the more people that we have the better quality impact the Newsletter will have! I also had a good email from Dave Clarke, who tells me that he is in charged with the task of getting the Website back up and running complete with updated sections! I am sure that you will all assist wherever and I am also sure he would appreciate any assistance anyone can give him, his email address is: david.clarke@vity.vossloh.com Just in case!!

On the field the senior section took on a very strong Melton Squad on Saturday and according to Hemi, acquitted themselves very well with Marvin and Trip standing out in the forwards and Keiron Lyons impressing at…. 2nd Row especially in the lineout, which is still a problem position at the club following the retirement of Jonny Saunders!! Back to the match and Hemi also said that we impressed with the driving maul which is a good sign of the positive forward work that the coaches and senior players have been working on this pre season, and although the result 4 tries to 1 against us, wasn’t really relevant, Hemi felt that the exercise was well worth while. Essentially, we are working all the time on bringing new faces to the club especially to strengthen the first team squad and we are hoping to bring in at least one second row over the next week or so to the club in order to boost our chances of promotion this season.

Still No news from the mini or Junior section regarding this coming season, games etc, please Ady or Paul Clayton, forward me any sort of information regarding matches etc!!!

Off the field, we are again still looking for more advertising boardings to go up around the pitch so if your company is interested or you know anyone who is then let me know and I will put you in touch with the right person at the club!!

Sunday also saw a pre season BBQ at the club which again was well supported and went off well, John Roux won the most drunk person award (so he tells me!!) anyway, I am sure that you will all be supporting the club on and off the field this season and I am hoping to bring all the details of the off field social activities on at the club to you in future Newsletters!!

Please see below the Opening fixtures for the 1st team. Please remember to offer your support to all of the teams at the club whenever you can.

9th September 2006 – Huntingdon v Leicester Forest RFC

16th September 2006 – Leicester Forest RFC v Daventry

23rd September 2006 – Bugbrooke v Leicester Forest RFC

Again any information you have and want to put in the Newsletter or any addresses you have please forward them to me. Also, the new kit should be arriving at the club by the start of next week, so keep your eyes open for the Mick Beason Testimonial season shirts. Again Dean Mooney is intending to put together some social events in honour of Mick’s service to the club!!

Hoping to deliver some Tour information to you all in the next Newsletter, for those who aren’t aware the tour is being planned for next year to Cork in Ireland..
