This weekend Forest hosted the boys from Towcestrians, in what
we knew would be a tough game. With the injuries of Tom Vesty
and Jon Roux the team again changed from the previous week.
Liam Warren a 19 year old from Braunstone got his chance to
start at Hooker and Ben Vesty had his first start in two seasons.
The first half was a bit like a sparring match, both sides
defended well and living off each others mistakes went into
the half at three a piece. The half time speech wasn't about
tactics it was more a kick in the behind and to pick the game
up!!
The second half kicked off and Forest came out all guns blazing.
After three minutes Forest had a five metre scrum, they got
the shove on and Ben Davis picked up from the back to battle
over for the try.
Straight after the try Liam was subbed for Lee Palmer to make
an impact. Forest battled on and James Coulthurst kicked two
more penalties from 45 metres.
From there Forest watched Towcestrians winger break down the
line to give Speakman a try, which was converted to make the
score 16-10 to Forest
It was all an even keel up until 5 minutes to go then Forest
got another penalty 45 metres out, 10 metres in from the touchline.
James Coulthurst stepped forward to slot another one over and
gave Forest a 9 point buffer. Towcestrians came back hard in
the last 5 minutes with some silly penalties by Forest.
Towcestrians scored in the corner in the last minute of the
game.
Over all another good team performance, with coulthurst named
man of the match.
We look forward to another tough match away at Ampthill and
a good bus trip with the vets.
